Download the HD_FRMWR.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click HD_FRMWR.EXE to begin the installation.
At the "Hard Drive Firmware Update - Welcome" box, click Continue.
At the "Hard Disk Drive Firmware Upgrade Utility" screen, click Next.
At the "Copying Files" screen, insert a formatted bootable floppy disk in the disk drive (A:) and then click Next.
At the "Setup Complete" screen, verify that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected.
Leave the floppy disk in the drive and click Finish to restart the computer.
The computer will boot from the floppy disk and run the firmware update utility. The utility will determine if the hard drive needs to be updated:
If the hard drive firmware needs to be updated, the utility will install the updated firmware. Please wait as it will take approximately one to two minutes. Once the process is complete, it will display "PASS" in large letters on the screen.

This utility updates the hard disk drive firmware and resolves the issue where incorrect data is listed in the control area of the hard drive when the notebook resumes from Suspend or Standby mode. After this occurs, the notebook will then stop responding if the Windows® ScanDisk application is run.
