WHAT THIS PACKAGE DOES
This package installs the iSCT (Intel Smart Connect Technology) software.
Updating the software will fix problems, add new functions, or expand
functions as noted below.

DETERMINING WHICH VERSION IS INSTALLED
[Windows 8/8.1]
1. Hold down the Windows logo key and press X to open a menu at the lower-left
area of the screen.
2. Select Programs and Features from the menu.
3. Select Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology 4.1.xxx.
4. Check the product version in the Details Pane shown at the bottom of screen.
If not shown, select Organize, select Layout, then select Details Pane.
[Windows 7]
1. Select Start, then select Control Panel.
2. Make sure "View by Category" is selected, and select Uninstall a program.
3. Select Organize, select Layout, then select Details Pane. The Details Pane
will be shown at the bottom of screen.
4. Select Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology 4.1.xxx.
5. Check the product version in the Details Pane.
If Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology 4.1.xxx is not shown, this software is
not installed.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Note:
- If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update
the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the
Version Information section.
Manual Install
This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.
Downloading file
1. Select the underlined file name. Once this is done, some pop-up windows
will appear.
2. Follow the instructions on the screen.
3. In the window to choose Run or Save, select Save.
4. Choose the folder you would like to download the file to, and select Save.
A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete.
Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating
that the download completed successfully.
Extracting file
5. Make sure to be logged on with an administrator account.
6. Locate the folder where the file was downloaded.
7. Locate the file that was downloaded and double-click/double-tap it.
8. Follow the instructions on the screen.
9. In the Select Destination Location window, select Next. If you would like
to select a different folder, select Browse.
10. In the Ready to Install window, select Install. All the necessary files
will be extracted to the folder selected in the step 9.
Installing files
11. Make sure the checkbox next to "Install ..... now" is checked and select
Finish.
12. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete installation and restart
the computer.
Finally delete the file saved in the step 4.

Enabling iSCT
To enable iSCT, follow the instruction below.
[Windows 8/8.1]
1. Right-click on the Start screen.
2. Select All apps.
3. Select Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology.
4. Check the checkbox next to "Always Updated".
5. Move the slide bar to set update frequency.
6. Set Start and End time of Extended Power Saving time in the Advanced tab.
[Windows 7]
1. Select Start, select All programs and select Intel.
2. Select Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology.
3. Check the checkbox next to "Always Updated".
4. Move the slide bar to set update frequency.
5. Set Start and End time of Extended Power Saving time in the Advanced tab.

LIMITATIONS
- "30 Day Standby" of Power Manager and iSCT functions exclusively.
When iSCT is enabled, "30 Day Standby" of Power Manager is disabled
automatically.
- You can check "30 Day Standby" state of Power Manager with the following steps.
[Windows 8/8.1]
1. [Mouse and Keyboard] Right-click / [Touch] press and hold on the Start
screen.
2. Select All apps.
3. Select Lenovo Settings.
4. Select Power.
5. There is "30 Day Standby" setting.
If it is grayed-out, "30 Day Standby" is disabled.
If not and the setting is On, "30 Day Standby" is enabled.
[Windows 7]
1. Start Power Manager by selecting the Lenovo Battery icon on the task tray.
2. Switch to Advanced.
3. Select the Global Power Settings tab.
4. There is a "Enable 30 Day Standby" check box.
If it is grayed-out, "30 Day Standby" is disabled.
If not and the check box is selected, "30 Day Standby" is enabled.
- In order to enable "30 Day Standby" of Power Manager, disable iSCT with the
follwoing steps.
[Windows 8/8.1]
1. [Mouse and Keyboard] Right-click / [Touch] press and hold on the Start
screen.
2. Select All apps.
3. Double-click/double-tap Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology.
4. Select the Basic tab.
5. Uncheck the checkbox next to "Always Updated".
[Windows 7]
1. Select Start, select All Programs, then select Intel.
2. Double-click/double-tap Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology.
3. Select the Basic tab.
4. Uncheck the checkbox next to "Always Updated".
- In S0-iSCT, the LED indicators act as same as S0 state. S0 is the power state
that the system is completely powered ON and fully operational. This is the
expected behavior on ThinkPad and not a problem.

Using Wireless WAN on iSCT
- When you use Wireless WAN on iSCT, install this iSCT program from the
"Extracting file" step in the Manual Update section.
An iSCT setting for wireless WAN connection configures when extracting file.
[Windows 7 Only]
- When you use Wireless WAN on iSCT, enable "Instant Internet"in Power Manager
with the following steps.
1. Start Power Manager by selecting the "Lenovo Battery" icon on the task
tray.
2. Switch to Advanced.
3. Select the Global Power Settings tab.
4. Check the checkbox next to "Enable Instant Internet".
5. Select OK.
There is no need to do this setting on Windows 8.
