Download the USBLOCK.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click USBLOCK.EXE to begin the installation.
At the "Mc Afee VirusScan Boot Configuration Update Utility - Welcome" box, click Continue.
Several setup boxes will appear during the installation of the driver setup files. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
At the "Setup Complete" screen, verify that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected and click Finish.
After the computer restarts, installation of the update is complete.
If it is necessary to reinstall this update, you will need to first remove the USBLOCK.EXE installation files. To do so, follow these steps:
Go to the directory where the USBLOCK.EXE file was downloaded and double-click it.
At the "Mc Afee VirusScan Boot Configuration Update Utility - Welcome" box, click Continue.
Several boxes will appear during the installation of the maintenance files.

This utility installs an updated boot configuration for McAfee VirusScan and resolves the issue where the notebook may become unresponsive while (re)starting when external USB devices are left attached to it or the Port Replicator.
This issue occurs when an incorrect McAfee VirusScan module attempts to scan all of the attached USB devices for possible viruses on the USB floppy drive.
