What This Package Does
----------------------
This package provides the software support for the PS/2 TrackPoint
(TrackPoint driver) for Windows XP, 2000.

Installation Instructions

Notes:
- To determine if you should update the TrackPoint driver, refer to
the "Summary of Changes" section.
- Before installing this driver, you must uninstall the current
program.
UNINSTALL FOR Windows 2000:
1. Start Windows 2000 and logon with administrative privileges.
2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
4. Select "IBM TrackPoint Support" or "ThinkPad TrackPoint Support."
5. Click Change/Remove.
6. Restart the system.
UNINSTALL FOR Windows XP:
1. Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges.
2. For Windows XP with Classic Start menu, click Start,
select Settings, then click Control Panel.
Otherwise, click Start, then click Control Panel.
3. Double-click Add Remove Programs.
4. Select "IBM TrackPoint Support" or "ThinkPad TrackPoint Support."
5. Click Change/Remove.
6. Restart the system.
INSTALL FOR Windows 2000:
1. Start Windows 2000 and logon with administrative privileges.
2. Extract the driver to the hard disk drive.
3. Click Start, select Settings, and click Control Panel.
4. Double-click System.
5. Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window.
6. Click the Device Manager button.
7. Double-click the Mice and other pointing devices.
8. Double-click IBM PS/2 TrackPoint, PS/2 TrackPoint or
PS/2 Compatible Mouse whichever choice appears in the list.
9. Click the Driver tab.
10. Click the Update Driver button.
The "Update Device Driver Wizard" runs.
11. Click Next.
12. Click Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that
I can choose a specific driver.
13. Click Next.
14. Click Have Disk.
15. Specify the directory where the driver files are extracted.
Then click the OK button. Then driver list appears.
16. Click PS/2 TrackPoint in the list.
17. Click Next.
18. Click Next.
19. If you see the warning panel which asks if you want to replace
the keyborad port driver(s) or not, click Yes.
20. Click Finish in the Update Device Driver Wizard window.
21. Click Close in the PS/2 TrackPoint Properties window.
22. Restart your computer to make the new settings effective.
INSTALL FOR Windows XP:
1. Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges.
2. Extract the driver to the hard drive.
3. For Windows XP with Classic Start menu, click Start,
select Settings, then click Control Panel.
Otherwise, click Start then click Control Panel.
4. For Windows XP with Category view of the Control Panel, click the
Performance and Maintenance icon. Then, click the System icon.
Otherwise, double-click the System icon.
5. Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window.
6. Click the Device Manager button.
7. Double-click the Mice and other pointing devices.
8. Double-click IBM PS/2 TrackPoint, PS/2 TrackPoint or
PS/2 Compatible Mouse whichever choice appears in the list.
9. Click the Driver tab.
10. Click the Update Driver button.
The "Update Device Driver Wizard" runs.
11. Click Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)
option.
12. Click Next.
13. Click Don't search. I will choose the driver to install. option.
14. Click Next.
15. Click Have Disk.
16. Specify the directory where the driver files are extracted.
Then click the OK button. Then driver list appears.
17. Click PS/2 TrackPoint in the list.
18. Click Next.
19. If you see the warning panel which asks if you want to replace

Determining which version is installed
--------------------------------------
Windows 2000
1. Start Windows 2000.
2. Click Start, select Search, and click For Files or Folders.
3. In the Search for files or folders named: field, type in
"tp4track.sys".
4. In the Look in: field, specify Local Hard drives (C:,D:).
5. Click the Search Now button.
Windows will now search your hard disk drive for tp4track.sys. If the
file is not found, then the TrackPoint driver is not installed on
your system.
6. In the Found part of the window, select the "tp4track.sys" file
located in C:WINNTSYSTEM32DRIVERS.or
C:WINNT40SYSTEM32DRIVERS.
7. Scroll the window to the right and look at the Modified column.
The time stamp on TP4TRACK.SYS file will be the version number.
"03:55a" - is version 3.55
Windows XP
1. Start Windows XP.
2. For Windows XP with Classic Start Menu, click Start, select
Search, and click For Files or Folders.
Otherwise, click Start then click Control Panel.
3. In the Search Companion panel, click All files and folders.
4. In the All or part of the file name: field, type in
"tp4track.sys".
5. In the Look in: field, specify Local Hard Drives (C:,D:).
6. Click the Search button.
Windows will now search your hard disk drive for tp4track.sys. If the
file is not found, then the TrackPoint driver is not installed on
your system.
7. In the Search Results panel, select the "tp4track.sys" file
located in C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32DRIVERS.
8. Scroll the window to the right and look at the Date Modified
column.
The time stamp on TP4TRACK.SYS file will be the version number.

UNATTENDED INSTALL FOR Windows 2000/XP:
1. Start Windows 2000/XP, logon with administrative privileges.
2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
3. Click Start then click Run.
4. Type the following command line 4-A or 4-B, and click OK.
[Program Path] is the full path name where you extracted
the package in the step 2, and click OK.
4-A. System won't reboot automatically
[Program Path]setupw2k.exe -sn
4-B. System will reboot automatically
[Program Path]setupw2k.exe -s
